My volunteer work in the sciences revolves around introducing more women and under-represented minorities to science. I previously volunteered at Expanding Your Horizons events, workshops to introduce middle school girls to science since 2005, in both Madison, WI and Seattle, WA. Now, I am involved in the University of Michigan's Females Excelling More in Math, Engineering and Science (FEMMES) Program as an Executive Board Member. My goal is the bring in more engineers and technologists working outside of the university to expand the diversity of presenters that represent STEM.
Our fall 2016 event had some great coverage by the University of Michigan Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department: UM volunteers fire up GIRL STEM POWER!
Again, a great spring 2017 FEMMES event: EEB + FEMMES = a great partnership
